How do I make an appointment to learn about the new equipment?

Times will be scheduled for training at the beginning of each semester. If these times are not convenient, other times can be arranged based on room availability. To do this, contact Sherry DesJardins at 453-1017 or Jim Foerster at 453-1014.

What types of storage media can be used on the computers?

Many popular forms can be read by the computers, including floppy disks, 100 and 250 megabyte Zip disks, CD’s, and DVD’s. The computers also have USB ports accessible from the front of the tower and from the USB extension cable located in the cable nook. This allows the use of Jump and Flash drives for storage.

Will I still be able to use overhead transparencies with the new equipment?

Yes. The document camera allows the use of overhead transparencies in classrooms. It also lets the instructor display solid objects like books, newspapers and other items.

Is the audiovisual equipment the same in all rooms?

Yes. The controls and capabilities are the same in the 21 rooms that received the new equipment. The only difference may be the number of projectors available in each room i.e. all Lawson and Neckers rooms are 2 projector rooms, all other are single projector rooms.

How will instructors be able to access the podiums?

The podiums in Lawson Hall will be unlocked each morning prior to the start of classes. For instructors outside of Lawson Hall, keys can be signed out from Bill Tally at Instructional Support Services. His phone number is 453-1687.

How has the new seating in some of the Lawson rooms affected the capacity of the rooms?

The rooms that received new furniture had their capacity reduced to fit new building codes. Two of the large rooms now seat 239 students. The small rooms retained their original capacity of 80 students.
